Displays of the museum have been featured in a 17 part docuseries titled "A Place Most Sacred- the Spirit Lake Massacre".
The series was written and created by Mike Zimmer, a Medina resident. The series tells the story of the 1857 massacre
from the perspective of both 13 year old Abby Gardner (who was captured by the Dakota Sioux), and Inkpaduta, the Sioux
leader responsible for the uprising. The series can be viewed on YouTube. After opening YouTube, type in:

The series contains much Minnesota history too. Give it a look. We hope you will enjoy it.

The canoe was recently dated to 1025 - 1165 A.D. making it the oldest dugout canoe found in Minnesota.
It is on display at the WHCPA Museum in Long Lake, Minnesota. See the full report at the Maritime Heritage Minnesota website.
